  Branding a famous artist

The Thomas Kinkade Company
When Thomas Kinkade decided to take his public company private, he hired us to design, build, refine and manage a new brand identity for a company that had new life.

Trademark, Naming & Sub-Brands
Our first task was to create the new corporate trademark (pictured at right). We combined Kinkade's signature lantern element with a combination serif, and sans-serif typographical treatment blending classical with contemporary.

After completing the corporate trademark, we began naming his sub-product brands and creating relevant identity elements to support his full line of art-inspired products and offerings. These included tiered-retail identity, art-inspired product identity, retail and collector identity, event and program identity and more.

Product Design, Packaging & Collateral
Product design, packaging and collateral needed to serve three core business segments: 1) Corporate Communications 2) Gallery Franchisers & Collectors 3) Licensors and Strategic Partners.
W
e delivered exciting, innovative, compelling and useful solutions every time.

Pictured at right are just a few of the dozens of integrated solutions that we designed and delivered along the way.

Environment
From trade shows, to branded retail art galleries and co-branded store-in-a-store concepts. We conceived, designed and built amazing space designs, featuring modular merchandising, furniture and accessories that set the tone for how Kinkade's customers were to experience his artwork and remember his brand.

Pictured at right (from top to bottom) are 1) A modular store-in-a-store concept gallery designed for Saks and Parisian Stores 2) New art products to be featured at the annual Retail Show, NYC 3) A store-front window display design for the Thomas Kinkade Signature Retail Gallery Network.

Web and Multimedia
We designed a flexible web template that continues to serve The Thomas Kinkade Company well today.

We also delivered core personality and product-related photographic images and assets, including set design, documentary stock, related titles and motion graphics, DVD design, production and related packaging.

The body of work that we delivered was enormous, acutely influential to the brand, and one that we are very proud to have been associated with.

We hope you enjoyed this case-study. It's important when building a new brand or revitalizing an existing one to remember that the process requires time, patience insight and vision.
